How well are you cascading your business rocks throughout your business?
Here’s a 2-minute email focusing on ensuring you are cascading your business priorities all the way through your business to build the ultimate focused and synchronised growth "machine", and a super-engaged team!
I have received many remarks about how much more effectively a businesses operates with well structured weekly meeting focused on progressing the Business’ Rocks/Priorities contained in your Strategic Plan on a Page. There's also a huge dividend for those businesses who can cascade this throughout their whole organisation!
A couple of tips and reminders below to reflect upon with your team...
TIP 1
As a reminder, the most effective agenda I have experienced for the Weekly Exec/Leadership Team meeting is as follows:
Good News (Personal and Professional)
Key Metric Review (must include the Critical Numbers(s))
Business Rock Review
Customer Feedback (start, stop, continue), including actions to close the loop
Employee Feedback (start, stop, continue), including actions to close the loop
Main activity for the week
Collective Intelligence (to deal with repetitive "stuck" raised in daily huddles)
Depending on the size of your Exec/Leadership Team, this can last anywhere between 45 and 90 minutes.
One key tip here, people think meetings "SUCK", primarily because the INTENT is not right. The INTENT of the weekly meeting is simple – FOCUS (!!) Focus on your Business Rocks (Priorities), and review progress against each of the 13-week sprints that should have been created for each rock, as well as their measure of success.
TIP 2
Bring even more focus, synchronisation, and output from across your business….
Ask each of the members of your Exec/Leadership Team, what is their weekly agenda with their individual team. Effectively, the answer should be the SAME agenda as the Exec/Leadership Team mentioned above. The BIG, high-cut-through item is the Rock Review. For a team, it will be focusing on the TEAM’s ROCKS, that should fundamentally be underpinning the Business Rocks.
Those managers who do this, experience the same lift in focus, output, AND employee and customer satisfaction.
Be curious, and ask each of your team members, how they are currently running their weekly team meetings. IF there are gaps, encourage them to get their Team’s "rock review" underway quick smart and then discuss the impact 😊
Have a great week!!
