A simple tip to help every one of your leaders grow!
In the last few weeks, I have heard in my CEO 1 on 1's some brilliant examples of "MULTIPLIER" leadership. As useful as you say you find these meetings, they provide tonnes of Learnings for me too!
A REMINDER:
Almost EVERY conversation you have in your business provides for a Coaching Opportunity.
If it's a planned 1 on 1 weekly with a Team Member, then this is a DEFINITE!
All my CEOs have to some extent a craving for creating a “learning” culture across their business. Here is a practical suggestion to help you amp up your learning culture and ensure your leaders GROW!
At the conclusion of every 1 on 1 with a Team Member, ask them, “what is the major learning you'll take away from this discussion and implement as a leader?”
Wait for their response…
The “I don’t know” response is either "avoidance" or a little bit of laziness. If you receive this response, you can simply respond, “What if you did know?”
Once they respond, just press them to see how, and when, they may action this by, and what impact they expect it to have on their team and the business.
IF you feel they have missed something substantial, a handy retort is to then say, “That’s great! Something that I learnt was….” and you provide them your major learning.
If you want to "supersize" this, ask them to start a LEARNING JOURNAL. In every meeting, they should bring this journal and record their Leadership Learnings.
This is a 30-45 second interchange that will bake-in the learning culture across your business. If you want to multiply this even further, suggest that your Team Members do EXACTLY the same for each of their Direct Reports, and so-on. Imagine your whole organisation were committed and active learners!
See you soon, and GROW WELL.
